Oil & LampGlobal
Today's devotion

Walk the parable, day by day.

Thursday, January 1 · Matthew 25:8–9

Oil cannot be borrowed

The foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you.

Notice the moment of crisis: the foolish virgins don't realize their lamps are out until the bridegroom is nearly here. Half-prepared faith stays hidden — until it's tested.

Oil in this parable is personal. It is your secret prayer life, your private obedience, your hidden walk with God. No one can lend it to you in the midnight hour — not your parents, not your pastor, not your favorite worship leader.

What you build in private becomes your light in the dark. Refill today: pray, repent, sit with the Word, and ask the Holy Spirit to keep your flame steady.

Reflect
  • Where am I depending on someone else's oil instead of my own walk with Christ?
  • What one private habit will I rebuild this week?
